Fire Prevention Tips for Your Edwardsburg, MI Home

Most of us do not view the dryer in our home as a danger. We regularly throw our wet clothes in it and go about our day without a second thought. We know to empty the lint trap regularly, but that is about as far as regular maintenance goes for most. There are a few areas of the dryer that should be cleaned regularly to prevent a household fire.
The compartment in which your lint trap sits can collect a buildup of lint. Cleaning the trap alone is not enough. It is recommended to use a flexible wire brush to clean the inside compartment. The rough bristles will pick up any trapped lint from deep within the compartment.
The dryer vent that leads outside is often forgotten as well. As just discussed, the lint trap does not catch everything. Lint and other debris can build up in your ventilation hoses. For this, we recommend using a dryer vent cleaning kit to rid the system of buildup. These kits often come with flexible extensions and a variety of brushes to get the hard to reach areas. Once clean, you may also be happy with how much better your dryer operates.
