Covid-19 has changed work practices across the United States. As essential businesses remain open, employers are faced with the important task of keeping everyone safe. Taking the proper precautions begins with knowing how the virus spreads.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Covid-19 is transmitted when an infected person coughs or exhales, releasing droplets of infected fluids. Most of these droplets fall on nearby surfaces and objects, such as desks, tables or telephones. People could catch COVID-19 by touching contaminated surfaces or objects, and then touching their eyes, nose, or mouth. Practicing good hygiene may reduce the risk of spreading the virus. Encourage your employees by asking them to:

• Wash hands frequently for at least 20 seconds and use hand sanitizer
• Avoid touching their faces and cover their coughs and sneezes
• Use non-contact methods of greeting each other.
• Limit sharing food with others.
• Disinfect surfaces like door knobs, keyboards, tables, desks, handrails, sinks, toilets, and light switches daily.
