One Small Heater, One Large Fire in your Union, MI Home
1/7/2021 (Permalink)
As the winter weather of Michigan sets in, most people bring their space heaters to help warm up their home. With your small space heater running, you decide to go in the kitchen when you smell smoke. You rush out to see your couch on fire. The Fire Department puts it out but you notice there is soot everywhere in your living room, as well as the smell of smoke. SERVPRO of Cass and St. Joseph Counties has some helpful tips on what you can do until your local Restoration Experts arrive:
- Limit movement in the home to prevent soot particles from spreading into different areas of your home and prevent additional damage from occurring.
- Place clean towels or old linens on rugs, high traffic areas and upholstery.
- Place aluminum foil or wood blocks between furniture legs and wet carpet.
- Do not clean any electrical equipment.
SERVPRO of Cass and St. Joseph Counties will help you bring your home back to preloss condition, ease your mind and make your home feel like home again.
