Fire Prevention in Three Rivers, Michigan

SERVPRO of Cass and St. Joseph Counties has been teaming up with the local Three Rivers Fire Department since 2011 to donate free smoke detectors and spread fire prevention awareness to the community.
Smoke alarms play a vital role in saving lives, and when properly installed, can reduce the risk of fire injury in half. The National Fire Protection Association recommends that smoke alarms be installed in every bedroom, outside all sleeping quarters and on every level of the house. Business owners should consult the local Fire Marshall to ensure specific building fire codes and smoke detector requirements are met.
Review the following tips regarding smoke detector installation and maintenance:
- -Install smoke alarms on every level of the home including the basement.
- Smoke alarms should be installed away from the kitchen to prevent false alarms. Generally, they should be at least 10 feet from a cooking appliance.
- -Test smoke alarms at least once a month using a test button.
- -Replace batteries in all smoke alarms at least once a year. If an alarm "chirps" the battery is low and should be replaced right away.
- -Replace all smoke alarms when they are 10 years old.

SERVPRO of Cass and St. Joseph Counties gives back to the community!

SERVPRO of Cass and St. Joseph Counties has been volunteering their time and efforts caring for our stretch of highway that we adopted through the MDOT (Michigan Department of Transportation) state program since 2012. Three times a year our crews line up on both sides of the two mile stretch of highway and collect bags of trash to enhance the appearance of our community. Since 1990, Adopt-A-Highway local groups have collected over a million bags of trash. Currently 2,800 groups are participating in the program and have adopted over 6,400 miles of Michigan highways. The goal of the program is to beautify the roadsides to show how gorgeous Michigan really is!

SERVPRO of Cass and St. Joseph Counties teamed up with the Cassopolis Chamber of Commerce to spread some holiday cheer this Christmas!

SERVPRO of Cass and St. Joseph Counties teamed up with the Cassopolis Chamber of Commerce to spread some holiday cheer and give back to the community with our annual Christmas party. Working together we prepared and served a hot meal to the community, gave presents out to those less fortunate, and really took the time to get to know the members of our community. This is a tradition that we plan to keep around for years to come. This event brings the neighborhood together and encourages one another to ask themselves not what the community can do for them, but what they can do for the community.

SERVPRO of Cass & St. Joseph Counties wanted to help our community celebrate Earth Day. So to honor Earth Day, our marketing manager, Steve Meyer, went out to pick up trash. Earth Day was created to spread awareness about our planets pollution. Although picking up trash is one way to participate in Earth Day, many other people in our surrounding community planted trees, turned off lights or electronics, or even used certified natural products for the day. Earth Day is a great reminder to reduce, reuse, and recycle as much as possible.

Fire prevention and awareness is recognized in October of every year. To get involved and raise awareness, SERVPRO of Cass & St. Joseph Counties teams up with the Three Rivers Fire Department. With the fire departments help we spend a day giving away free smoke detectors to families in need. We love spending this day getting to know the families of Three Rivers. Not only do these families leave with new smoke detectors but they also leave with more knowledge and awareness about fire prevention. This tradition started back in 2011 and we hope to keep it going for many more years to come. Don’t wait till it’s to late to learn about fire safety. Come out and join us in October and help spread awareness.
